Import, Delete, and Recovery

Open More → Manage → Data Management at the top of the Library for import, backup, and maintenance tools. Use Deleted Items at the top of the page to view recoverable records.

Import local files

Open Manage → Data Management → Import:

Choose files or a directory to import.
Choose “Reference existing files” or a managed copy mode.
Decide whether to include hidden files and how to handle symbolic links.
Click “Select and Scan.”
Review the ready, duplicate, and skipped counts in the import preview.
Confirm to import the checked files.

Nothing is written before the scan preview completes. Reference mode keeps files in their original locations; managed mode copies accepted files into a location managed by the Library.

Deleted Items

Click Deleted Items at the top of the Library to view deleted tasks, files, or directory items. After you select an item, the page explains whether it can be restored.

Recovery usually requires the corresponding local file to still exist. If the file was deleted from disk, its record may only show deletion details and cannot restore the media itself.

Check invalid files

Open Manage → Data Management → Maintenance and click “Check Invalid Files.” Records whose paths are confirmed missing appear on the page and are not selected by default.

“Clean Selected Records” removes only confirmed invalid Library records; it does not delete files from disk. If an external or network drive is temporarily offline, remount it before checking or cleaning.

Back up and restore metadata

The Backup page creates snapshots of Library metadata. A snapshot does not contain downloaded media files and may contain sensitive metadata such as accounts, settings, and device authorizations, so store it as a private file.

A restore is scheduled for the next launch and creates a rollback backup before replacing data. Enter the required confirmation phrase before scheduling it. The restore takes effect after you close and reopen XiaDown.
