App Sessions

App Sessions store website sign-in state. YouTube, YouTube Music, and some downloads that require account access use these sessions. You can sign in through XiaDown or explicitly sync from a supported local browser.

Open Library → App Sessions.

  1. Select a website from the list.
  2. Click Connect or Reconnect.
  3. Complete sign-in in the opened browser.
  4. Return to XiaDown and click Verify Sign-in.
  5. After verification succeeds, reopen the corresponding feature or download window.
  1. Click Sync from Browser at the top of App Sessions.
  2. Select a supported local browser.
  3. Choose how to read it: authorize access to the current Chrome session, or copy and parse the selected local browser profile.
  4. Follow the page’s instructions for prerequisites such as remote debugging, system permission, or closing the browser, then scan the profile.
  5. Review the accounts found, select the ones you need, and sync them.

XiaDown reads only the sign-in data needed by supported apps from the selected source and does not modify the browser profile. You initiate every sync explicitly.

Action Result
Search Find a target website quickly.
Sync from Browser Sync supported sign-in state from a local browser profile you choose.
Verify Sign-in Check whether a saved session is still valid.
Reconnect Open the sign-in process again.
Sign Out Clear the session XiaDown saved for this website.

After an App Session is verified, New Download may show “App Session available.” Enable Use App Session to download with access already granted to the current account.

A session cannot bypass site rules. Only access and save content you are authorized to use.

  • On macOS, App Sessions are stored in the system Keychain. The system may ask you to confirm access the first time they are read after an upgrade.
  • On Windows, they are stored in XiaDown app data using encryption tied to the current system user.

XiaDown does not automatically read sign-in state from your everyday browser in the background. It reads the necessary data from a selected source only after you explicitly choose Sync from Browser. Signing out of an App Session does not sign you out in other browsers.

Websites expire sign-ins periodically. If a feature requests sign-in, reports an expired session, or lacks permission, verify the session first and reconnect only if verification fails. macOS users should also check whether Keychain access was denied.
