Network and Proxy
Proxy settings affect app updates, dependency downloads, link parsing, sniffing, YouTube, YouTube Music, and RSS. When downloading a direct file whose address has already been resolved, the target site may still impose speed or regional restrictions.
Choose a proxy mode
Section titled “Choose a proxy mode”Open Account menu → Settings → Network:
| Mode | When to use it |
|---|---|
| No proxy | The current network can reach the target services directly. |
| System proxy | The computer already has a working system proxy. |
| Manual proxy | XiaDown needs its own server address, port, or authentication settings. |
After choosing Manual proxy, click “Edit Proxy,” enter the server information, and run the test. The settings are saved after a successful test.
When content fails to load
Section titled “When content fails to load”Check these items in order:
- Confirm in a browser that the target site is currently reachable.
- Check that XiaDown is using the correct proxy mode.
- If you use a manual proxy, test the server again.
- Close and reopen the current feature area, or use the page’s retry or refresh action.
- For services that require sign-in, check App Sessions again.
Problems a proxy cannot solve
Section titled “Problems a proxy cannot solve”- The link was deleted or made private.
- The current account does not have access.
- The site changed its page or API and parsing is temporarily broken.
- The target service is rate-limiting requests.
- A local dependency is missing or malfunctioning.
For these cases, see Troubleshooting. When reporting a problem, include the app version, reproduction steps, and sanitized error details.
