Installation and First Launch
XiaDown supports macOS and Windows. Get the installer from the official website or GitHub Releases.
System requirements
Section titled “System requirements”- macOS 14 Sonoma or later.
- Windows 10 or Windows Server 2016 and later, x64.
- Online downloads, YouTube, YouTube Music, and RSS require a network that can reach the corresponding services.
Install with Homebrew:
brew install --cask arnoldhao/tap/xiadownOr download a DMG:

Open the DMG, drag XiaDown.app into Applications, and then open it from Applications.
Windows
Section titled “Windows”| Package | Download | How to use it |

| Installer | Download the latest installer | Run the installer, then launch XiaDown from the Start menu. |
| Portable | Download the latest ZIP | Extract it to a permanent directory, then launch XiaDown. |
If SmartScreen displays a warning, first confirm that the file came from one of the official addresses above, then select “More info → Run anyway.”
First launch
Section titled “First launch”The welcome flow asks you to complete these steps the first time XiaDown opens:
- Choose the interface language.
- Choose no proxy or the system proxy. To use a manual proxy, configure it later under Settings → Network.
- Choose a theme and appearance.
- Install required tools such as yt-dlp, FFmpeg, and Bun.
- Wait until the tools become available, then enter the main interface.
Download and transcode buttons may remain unavailable until the dependencies finish installing. You can continue installing or verifying them under Settings → Download. See Dependencies for details.
Updates
Section titled “Updates”Open Account menu → Settings → About to check for app updates. Previous versions are available on GitHub Releases.
