Dependencies
Video downloading, media merging, and transcoding depend on external tools. XiaDown places the versions it manages in the app directory and does not overwrite programs with the same names elsewhere on the system.
Three tools
Section titled “Three tools”| Tool | Purpose |

| yt-dlp | Parse and download video, audio, subtitles, covers, and playlists. |
| FFmpeg | Merge video and audio, process media streams, and transcode files. |
| Bun | Provide a runtime used by yt-dlp to parse some sites. |
View status
Section titled “View status”Open Settings → Download. The page shows each tool’s installation state, current version, available update, and management buttons.

| Verify | Run the tool and confirm that it works. |
| Open Folder | View where XiaDown stores the tool. |
If Tool Updates appears in the account menu in the lower-left corner, you can also use it to open this page.
Required tools are not ready
Section titled “Required tools are not ready”- Confirm that the network and proxy can reach the download source.
- Click Repair Required Tools or install each one individually.
- Verify each tool after installation.
- Close and reopen the New Task window.
If installation still fails, open the log directory and retain logs near the time of the error. Remove sensitive information such as local paths, accounts, and links before submitting them.
Version notes
Section titled “Version notes”XiaDown chooses a Bun version within yt-dlp’s compatibility range, so it may not be the latest version on the Bun website. Do not manually replace XiaDown-managed files with an incompatible version.
